The Office of the Chief Judge is the headquarters of the Court
Under the Chief Judge's direction, the day-to-day operations of the Court are carried out by Integrated Judicial Services employees working at the Office of the Chief Judge and in courthouses across the province. The Office of the Chief Judge, which is the Court's administrative headquarters, is located at the Robson Square courthouse in downtown Vancouver.
The Office of the Chief Judge (OCJ) cannot:
Provide legal advice
Comment on specific cases before the courts
Advise on individual situations
Change the outcome of a ruling or decision
Order a new trial, declare a mistrial<p><span lang="EN-US">When a trial ends without a final judgment because there has been a fundamental problem with the process or when a jury in BC Supreme Court cannot reach a decision.</span><span> </span></p> or overturn a decision
Permit you to contact, speak with or correspond privately with judges about an ongoing court matter or any decision the judge has made
Provide information about a court case or court records
Accept a verbal complaint about the conduct of a judicial officer, you must instead make a written complaint
Arrange for classes or groups to visit the Court
