Family orders picklists
Picklists are lists of standard terms for court orders that can be used in all BC Provincial Court locations. The family picklist
A numbered list containing standard wording for common court orders.
is available on courtroom computers. A court clerk
A Court Services Branch employee who helps the judge inside the court room. Some of their responsibilities include recording the court proceedings, marking and recording the list of exhibits and swearing in witnesses.
can use them to quickly and accurately capture the order a judge makes.
When a judge decides to change the standard wording, a court clerk can edit the term as needed. Picklists include letter and number codes for each of the standard terms. This helps the court clerk find a term quickly. When a judge says a number before making an order, they are referring to a standard term in the picklist.
For example you might hear a judge say "B15". This lets the court clerk know that the judge is referring to a term that says "(Name) and (name) shall share parenting time
The time a child spends with a guardian.
